A nice suit can be a powerful tool in any person's wardrobe. It exudes confidence, sophistication, and professionalism. But there are some suit do's and don'ts that you should keep in mind to make sure you're presenting yourself in the best possible light. Here are ten tips for choosing, wearing, and caring for a nice suit:
DO invest in a good quality suit. A well-made suit will not only look better, but it will also last longer.
DON'T skimp on the fit. A poorly fitting suit can ruin your entire look. Make sure the shoulders fit properly, the sleeves hit at the right spot, and the pants are the right length.
DO choose a classic color like navy or gray. These colors are versatile and will never go out of style.
DON'T go too trendy. A suit with an overly bold pattern or bright color may not be appropriate for all occasions. But, keep in mind that a nice blazer can take any outfit to a higher level if worn correctly. I wore this to a house party hosted by one of my celebrity clients a while back, and I got a ton of compliments.
DO pay attention to the details. Make sure your shirt is pressed, your tie is neatly tied, and your shoes are polished. If you want to get even more advanced with the details, try different sized lapels, different colored buttons, and custom cuff-links.
DON'T wear a short tie. Your tie should always hit the top of your belt buckle.
DO accessorize wisely. A nice watch or cufflinks can add a touch of sophistication to your look. As an entertainment lawyer, I can sometimes get a little more flashy with my styling if I'm going to be partying with celebrities and I want to make a remarkable impression. You never know when you could get hired in this business, so I always put my best foot forward. Even when I go out to clubs, I can still wear a suit and pull it off with confidence. DON'T forget to take care of your suit. Hang it up properly, dry clean it when necessary, and make any needed repairs promptly.
DO experiment with different textures. A tweed or corduroy suit can add some variety to your wardrobe. If you cant get many different suits, switch up your ties to add variety to you look. Just be sure to keep it clean and always wear a nice crisp shirt.
DON'T forget to wear it with confidence. Your suit should make you feel like a million bucks, so wear it with pride!
By following these ten suit do's and don'ts, you'll be sure to impress in any professional or informal setting.
